Customer Background#

An agricultural machinery company whose tractor gearbox required a complete gear set package, including spur gears, helical gears, spline shafts, etc. One gearbox contains many parts of different modules and shapes, and buying them from several suppliers makes the matching and the follow-up work at the customer side complicated. The company wanted one supplier for the whole set.

Technical Requirements#

• Module M3~M8, various specifications
• Material 20CrMnTi, carburized and quenched HRC 58~62
• Batch accuracy GB grade 6

The parts in one set differ in module and in shape, but they work together inside the same gearbox. For the set to assemble and run as one transmission, the material and heat treatment standard, the accuracy grade and the inspection method have to be the same for every variety in the set. A set made up of parts from several sources can meet the drawing of each part and still cause trouble at assembly, because the heat treatment condition and the accuracy level are then decided in different workshops.

Solution#

1. Complete Set Supply: one-stop supply from gears to spline shafts, so the whole set arrives against one order and one quality standard, and the customer does not have to match deliveries from different suppliers.
2. Process Control: a unified material and heat treatment standard is applied across all varieties in the set, so that the carburized and quenched condition is the same for every gear in the gearbox.
3. Inspection Support: full-dimensional inspection is carried out and inspection reports are issued for the set, which gives the customer a record for each variety when the set is received and put into assembly.
