Gearbox Assembly Process and Quality Control
From parts cleaning and assembly procedures to clearance adjustment and running-in tests, this guide provides a comprehensive overview of key assembly
Pre-assembly Preparation#
Parts Cleaning#
- All gears, bearings, and shaft parts must undergo ultrasonic cleaning before assembly.
- After cleaning, check tooth surfaces for burrs and dents.
Parts Inspection#
- Gear accuracy re-inspection (pitch, tooth profile, helix)
- Bearing clearance measurement
Assembly Process#
- Bearing assembly: Heat bearings to 80~120°C and hot-fit onto the shaft.
- Gear assembly: Heat gears to 120~150°C and hot-fit into position.
- Housing closing: Apply sealant and tighten bolts to the specified torque.
- Clearance adjustment: Gear backlash 0.06~0.15mm
- Rotation check: Manual turning should be smooth and free from sticking.
Running-in Test#
| Stage | Speed | Load | Time | Inspection Items |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No-load running-in | 50% rated | None | 30min | Noise, vibration, temperature rise |
| Load running-in | 75% rated | 50% | 60min | Contact pattern, temperature rise |
| Full-load test | Rated | 100% | 120min | Noise, efficiency |
Geyang Transmission strictly executes assembly in accordance with controlled assembly process documents.
